  • Copy All to Clipboard: Copy all current displayed content to clipboard
  • Copy: Copy current selected content to clipboard
  • Paste: Paste content from clipboard into input panel and lookup

• Options
  • View
    • Default view setting: When opening new library file, these settings will be used as default setting.Font: Set default font family
      *Font size: Set default font size
      *Chinese conversion: Set default chinese conversion (Convert all chinese character to Simplified/Traditional Chinese)
      *Text Color: Set default text color
      *Background color: Set default background color
      *Use ClearType: Enable cleartype when displaying text
      *Fit to window: Fit all contents into application window(May shrink image to fit into window)
      *Fix Chinese line wrap: Chinese text may not line wrapped correctly under non-Chinese OS, check this option to use a work-arround method
      *Split view: Use split view
      
    • Apply to all dicts: Apply these settings to all libraries in the library list.
    • Split view: Use split view mode. Which will always display keyword list in the left panel
    • Zoom 150%: Zoom in 150%
  • Online lookup
  • Use popup for online lookup: When using online lookup, you can use popup window or switch to main window to display lookup content.
    Note: Please use 'Library Manager' to choose dictionary for online lookup
  • Word pickup button: Other then use the online lookup icon in the top-left screen, You also may use hardware button to trigger this action. Press the button in this dialog can automatically select the button in the list.
  • Show picker icon on task bar: If you found the word pickup icon blocking in your way, you may drag it to a better place. If you still don't like it, you may turn it off by uncheck this checkbox.
  • Misc:
  • GUI Langugae: Select the UI language, need restart the program to take effect
  • Use softkey menu: Use softkey style menu, need restart the program to take effect
  • Audio library Path: Put all audio libraries into this directory(Default directory will be AudioLib under MDict.exe program directory), Which can be used to play audio when look up. You may put more then one audio library in this directory, MDict will search audio file in them by file name order. Instruction for building audio library:
    1. Put all audio file in a same directory. The file name should match the key word of the entry that to be played. For example, if you have a speech for the sound of "test", then you should create the audio with name "test.wav".
    2. Use speexenc (from http://www.speex.org) to convert all audio into .spx file
    3. Use MdxBuilder to convert all audio file into a .mdd file. (Check the create data archive only option)
    4. Set the Audio Library option to the .mdd file
    5. When looking up entry, MDict will also locate the entry's audio file in the assigned Audio library. If a matched audio entry is found in the audio library, the speaker button in the up-right will be enabled.For example, when you look up "test", and there is a "test.spx" in the audio library, then you can use the speaker button to play it.
  • Auto play audio: If the matching item is found in the audio library, the program will play that audio file automatically.
  • Auto save lookup history: Check this if you want to save the lookup history when exit MDict
  • Misc2:
  • Auto lookup in split view mode: When enabled, MDict will display entry contents while you are typing under split view mode.
  • Auto show hide soft input panel: When using device with keyboard, you might want to turn off the SIP auto control features in MDict.
  • Auto adjust library menu order by usage: When checked, the last used dictionary will be put to top position in library menu.
  • Use alpha instead of digit for libray menu shortcut key: Control whether use alphas or digits for the first letter of library menu as shortcut key.
  • Put current entry in middle of keyword list. (Non-Union library only): Control the first matched entry's displaying postion in keyword list
  • Auto lookup selected text: MDict will auto lookup the hightlighted text when this option is enabled.

• View

• Keyword fuzzy search: Search keywords by fuzzy search, you can use wildcards( ? or * ) in the match pattern.
• Keyword fuzzy search next: Search next matched keyword by last used match pattern from current entry position
• Full text search: Search the entry text part, no wilcards allowed. You can use multiple keywords(seperated by space) in searching. Because this function use brute-force search method, so it's slow.
• Full text search next: Continue last full text search from current entry position.
• Chinese conversion
  • No conversion: Do nothing
  • To Simplified Chinese: If the library is in traditional chinese, You can check this option to convert all traditional chinese character in lookup result into simplified chinese. After checked this option, if you want to lookup chinese keyword, you should input simplified chinese.
  • To Traditional Chinese: If the library is in simplified chinese, You can check this option to convert all simplified chinese character in lookup result into traditional chinese. After checked this option, if you want to lookup chinese keyword, you should input traditional chinese.
• Text:
  
  • Font size: Smallest, small, medium, large, largest: Change the font size in document window. (Due to lack of platform support, This function is disabled in HPC version)
  • Font: Set which font family will be used for text displaying
  • Text Color: Set text color
  • Background color: Set text background color
  • Clear type: Use cleartype when displaying lookup result in document window
• Fit to window: Control whether to shrink image to fit into window size.
• Split view: Use split view or single view.
• Show reference: Enable to show reference dictionary's content. You can put dictionaries(.mdx only) into ReferenceLib under MDict program directory as reference book.
• Use large button: Enable large button mode, which will enlarge the buttons on MDict's screen.
• Back to previous application : If you switch to main window after online lookup, you may use this option to back to the application which word was pickuped from.

• Library

• Library Manager:
  • Menu
    • up: Up one level.
    • New group: Create a new group
    • Rename: Rename a group
    • Mark/Unmark Union: Mark/Unmark a group as union. When a group is marked as union, you can select it like normal dictionary in the library menu, and all dictionaries in this group will be searched and displayed.
    • Import Library: Import dictioanries and use folder name as group.
    • Clear all: Clear all contents.
    • Done: Save and exit library manager dialog.
  • Action
    • Move up: Move selected dictionary up
    • Move down: Move selected dictionary down
    • Add dictionary: Add one dictionary into current group
    • Delete: Delete a dictionary or a group
    • Show/Hide: Mark a dictionary or a group as show/hide. If a dictionary/group is hidden, it won't be displayed in library menu.
    • Copy to: Copy selected dictionary into specified group. This copy action is a symbol link, won't occupy storage space.
    • Move to: Move selected dictionary into specified group.
    • Set/Unset for online lookup: Use selected dictionary/Unicon group for online lookup dictionary. If unset, MDict will use current openned dictionary for online lookup.
• Searh all: Search all files with ".mdx" extension and add them to library list
  

• Buttons:
: Copy high-lighted text in MDict
: Paste contents in clipboard into input panel and lookup it.
: Jump to previous entry
: Jump to next entry
: Jump to previous entry in lookup history
: Jump to next entry in lookup history
: When there is BGSOUND tag in current entry and a co-responding audio file in the data file, This button will be enabled.
: Finger gesture. When enabled, you can use finger to drag(scroll) screen.

Keyboard shortcut:

• Enter: Lookup current input/ select entry in entry list
  • Arrow left/right: Move cursor
  • Arrow up/down: Scroll entry list
• When input foucs is in the document window
  • Enter: Set input focus to input panel
  • Arrow left/right: Jump to previous/next entry in the library
  • Arrow up/down: Scroll contents in document window.
  • Input any alpha character will switch input focus to input panel, this function will easy the use of device with keyboard.
